True...agree. My comment was also in the context of the place and its history...perhaps these stark contrasts aren't so visible and apparent in the neo-liberal and capitalist regions in most parts of the world...including parts of the countries we reside in. I also like her stance in this still. And the spirit that lives on in these spaces:)

Alex Lapidus replied:

Thanks again for your thoughts!

Rather decay!

Alex Lapidus replied:

Renu thank you so much! It's amazing what we each get used to in our own corners of the world -- the things that seem "normal" or obvious to us, and the things that seem different and unusual. You and I see striking age and decay here. What would she see in your neighborhood, or mine?

To me, this is , "Where Time Stood Still"! The textures on the weather-beaten walls of the building are revealing - still like a silent witness to time and tide with the girl absorbed in her cell phone, oblivious to the decadence. L/F

Evocative image. The stark contrast between the foreground and the rundown structure in the background tells a story!

Beautiful street portrait Alex and great title pointing out the juxtaposition of the young woman having a cell phone in a place of heavy impoverishment. Very well done.
